These are whole, or nearly whole, geodes and thunder eggs from the Dougway geode bed in Utah. They vary in size from about 2 inches to 4 inches in diameter.

About half of the dougway geodes are hollow and filled with botroidal chalcedony or small quartz crystals. Those that are solid, (called thunder eggs), tend to have an agate core.
