Yes, I would be delighted to custom polish rocks for you, either in my tumblers or with my diamond wheels. You supply the rocks, I will polish them and return them to you. I can polish stones sized from 1/4 inch to about 14 inches in my rock tumblers. Single small stones may be polished on my diamond grinding wheels. If you would like your rocks crushed please do so before sending them to me. I will polish them just as received. For best results there should be a mixture of sizes in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 inches or less in diameter. Tiny rocks may be consumed or crushed during the polishing. I don`t recommend sending rocks smaller than 3/8 inch in diameter unless all the rocks are similarly small. Pricing depends on the size of the stones sent, please see specifications below. You may send small filler stones of the same type of rock to take up the extra space in the tumbler (less than 3/4 inch in diameter). The smaller stones are likely to be consumed during the process but some of them might turn out nice. Sending small stones is optional. I have been polishing rocks for as long as I can remember, and polish more than 1000 pounds of semi-precious stones a year... Some types of rocks will not take a high lustre polish in a tumbler. If stones of mixed hardness are sent, then some will come out with a high gloss shine, some with a satin shine, and some with no shine at all. In general, if the rocks have a glassy look in the rough state they will take a nice high lustre polish, and if they have an earthy look they rarely take a polish, they just get smooth and rounded. So I can`t make a warranty regarding how they will turn out, though I promise to do the best job polishing that I am capable of given the nature of the stones sent to me, and I will not take shortcuts or wild risks with your stones. So far I have never had a batch that didn't turn out great. I recognize that many of the rocks sent are precious family heirlooms and I take great care in handling and shipping them. It takes 3 to 8 weeks to complete a batch of rocks depending on the characteristics of the rock, the availability of my tumblers, and my rock hunting schedule. To ship lots of loose rocks please put them in a smaller box inside the shipping box. Single stones ship well if they have lots of packing material around them. If you use bags, please leave the rocks loose in the bag: don't use tape to make it tight around the rocks. If shipping in the USPS small flat-rate box, please tape the box well along all edges, because the self-adhesive seal is not reliable when shipping rocks. I travel extensively, so please eMail for shipping information.
